The National Theater Company of Korea makes a step forward to break new ground in contemporary performing arts with the
‹Performance Research Lab› project. ‹Performance Research Lab› is a project devised to explore the concepts and expressions of performance which is an intersection of a variety of modern arts including fine arts, music, dance, drama, and so on. Today, performance is highly regarded again as the most useful means of expression to represent ‘now and here’. The performance Research Lab is a living and breathing space where the interests and thoughts, expressions and feelings of the present time are expressed and shared through various forms such as lecture, workshop, presentation, reading, etc.
Today, we leave the stationary, banal and boring design. We are here to look back on the history of design and ridicule its contradicting influence on our life. And above all, a toast to all of us! What is design? What is the history and context of design? Now we get together to forget it. Protest against the unfriendly design. Break it. Leave it and think of the next destination. Suggest an alternative. And finally, let’s ‘design’ the moment together!
Saturday 17 March 2012, top designers in S.Korea gather in the National Theater Company of Korea’s first ‘‹Performance Research Lab›’, entitled (National) Design Vagabond (Theater) Troupe, to design the moment. Those who are interested in this troupe, who are a living design library, and their data, please come and ‘borrow’ the designers offered by the National Theater Company of Korea from 3 pm to 5 pm on the 17th at Studio One. They are all available and open to your questions, complaints, reproach, conversation, and communication for 15 minutes. They come together to design the moment of coincidence departing from designing the standard objects and it is the moment for designers or design to meet the performance.
* The Human Library project is a new type of open source library service created by Ronni Abergel, a Danish anti-violence activist. It was initiated at Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2000.

관객 참여형 실험 퍼포먼스
동시대 공연예술의 지평을 새롭게 열어 가려는 국립극단의 시도, ‹퍼포먼스 리서치 랩›이 가동된다. 퍼포먼스 리서치 랩은 미술, 음악, 무용, 연극 등 다양한 현대 예술의 교집합인 퍼포먼스, 그 개념과 표현에 대해 탐구하는 연구 실험실이다. ‘지금 여기’를 말하는 가장 유용한 표현 수단으로서 퍼포먼스는 다시 주목받고 있다. 퍼포먼스 리서치 랩은 퍼포먼스와 연계된 강연, 워크숍, 프리젠테이션, 강독 등 자유로운 형식을 통해 동시대의 관심과 사유, 표현과 감각을 표출 해내는 살아 움직이는 공간이고자 한다.
계류중인 변화와 진부함으로 따분하기 그지 없는 디자인을 우리는 오늘 떠난다. 이 자리를 빌어 그 역사에 대한 회고를, 이것이 우리의 삶에 끼친 모순적인 역할에 대한 조소를, 무엇보다도 모두 함께 축배를!
디자인은 무엇인가. 그 가치, 역사와 맥락은 무엇인가. 우리는 이것을 잊어버리기 위해 모였다. 불친절한 디자인에게 항의하자. 깨부수자. 완전히 떠난 후 다음 행선지를 상상 해보자. 대안을 제안하자. 그리고 그 순간을 함께 ‘디자인’ 해보자!
2012년 3월 17일 토요일, 한국 최고의 디자이너들이 ‘순간’을 디자인하기 위해 국립극단의 첫 번째 ‘퍼포먼스 리서치 랩’에 모인다. 이름하여 (국립)디자인 유랑(극단). 살아있는 디자인 도서관인 이들 디자인 유랑단의 자료를 열람 하기를 원한다면 17일 오후 세 시 부터 두 시간 동안 국립극단 스튜디오 하나에서, 국립극단으로 부터 제공된 디자이너들을 ‘대출’할 수 있다. 주어진 15분의 시간 동안 여러분은 그들에게서 필요한 정보를 알아내는 데에서부터 질문, 항의, 질책, 대화, 소통 등 원하는 것을 자유로이 시도할 수 있다. 정형화된 사물을 디자인하는 것에서 우연의 시간을 디자인 하는 것으로, 디자이너/디자인은 퍼포먼스와 영리한 교집합을 형성한다.
* 인간 도서관은 덴마크 출신의 사회운동가 로니 에버겔 Ronni Abergel 이 2000년 덴마크에서 열린 로스킬데 페스티벌 Roskilde Festival 에서 창안한 것으로, 유럽에서 시작된 새로운 오픈 소스 도서관 서비스의 일종이다.
